How to clean your pendant lighting

September 05, 2023

Cleaning your lights doesn't have to be a chore.

Here are some simple techniques that we use to keep the lights in our Gordonton studio sparkling. ✨✨✨

What you'll need:
Duster
Microfibre cloth
Glass cleaner
Paper towels
Water-based baby wipes

PLEASE REMEMBER TO TURN OFF THE POWER TO THAT LIGHT SOURCE BEFORE YOU START CLEANING.

Because, you know, ouch!

Glass Pendants

Instructions:

  • Start at the top and work your way down.
  • Dust the cord/rope/chain and the very top of your pendant with an extendable duster.
  • Using the duster or a soft, dry microfibre cloth, gently wipe the glass/fabric to remove any excess dust, dirt and grime.
  • For spot cleaning, use any good glass cleaner and a paper towel.
  • Finish by gently wiping down the pendant with a soft, dry microfibre cloth.

Other Pendant Lighting

Instructions:

  • Start at the top and work your way down.
  • Dust the cord/rope/chain and your pendant with an extendable duster.
  • For any spot cleaning, gently run a water-based baby wipe over the fabric or dampen a cloth with warm water and a tiny bit of soap if needed.

Don't forget about the light bulb!

Dirty light bulbs are much less energy efficient. Keeping them clean will help them work better and ensure that your lighting is as bright as it should be.

Raven Perfect Duster

While this electrostatic duster probably won't match your decor, it attracts and collects fine dust particles which is exactly what you want. We get our dusters from Bunnings.
